Welcome to the PiGun wiki!
PiGun is an IR-based, DIY lightgun for both modern and old-school arcade shooter videogames.
PiGun runs on a PiZero W with PiCamera V2.1 NoIR, and connects to a host computer via classic bluetooth. It appears to the host as an HID joystick (2-axis, 8-buttons), thus it does not interfere with the standard pointer device, nor other PiGun devices connected to the same host.
PiGun was successfully tested with several games using MAME, Teknoparrot and Demulshooter running on a Windows PC.
The repository includes the PiZero software as well as stl models for all hardware parts. These were designed to be made on a FDM 3D printer with a PLA filament. There is also the PCB design for the main board in a zip file formatted for submission to manufacturers (JLPCB, Aisler, ...). However, a long list of other components not included in the repository is necessary to make a PiGun.
This wiki contains all instructions to setup the PiZero W and assemble a PiGun (model 1) and IR beacons.
