We aren't really good at this whole 'user-friendly documentation' thing... But we're going to give it a try, just to make you all happy!
K9 is a multi-purpose Discord bot based on the awesome Discordie library. Right now, he can't do much... but he's learning new things all the time!
So why call him (her/it) K9? Well... two reasons. The super-duper obvious reason is that he's named after the robot dog from Doctor Who:
Yep, we love Doctor Who, and little Doctor Who references are likely to find their way all throughout the K9 codebase (just take a look at what K9 says in console when he's booted up). If you don't like Doctor Who... deal. Or find another bot. Really don't care. K9 was (is being) written as a pet project. Partially because we've never done a Node project before (and REALLY wanted to learn), and partially because Dan needed a Discord bot that could do a few things that other Discord bots couldn't do yet.
Second reason we chose the name K9 is because a long time ago (wibbily wobbly timey wimey) Dan worked on another bot. An IRC bot. It was the first bot he ever worked on... and its original owner called it K9. Dunno if it was a Doctor Who reference. Mighta been. But yea, we're a bit sentimental like that.
