HDFView Wish List

Here's a bunch of things, in no particular order, that we'd like to see in HDFView.

Bigger Things

Lazy load dataset data and the object model

Convert the build system to Gradle

We're currently using Ant. It'd be nice to move to something more modern.

Deploy via Maven

Ensure HDFView works well with filter/VFD/VOL plugins

Minimize translation between C and Java containers in the JNI

Especially true for complex and variable-length data.

Smaller Things

Ensure user guide documentation is up to date

The UG hasn't been updated in some time. We should at least make sure the user guide images match the current UI.
