Please comment on this issue for technical and practical requirements for a collaboration with OPC-UA

I suggest we find answers to the following issues:

  • Collaboration model: Are the working models of both SDOs permitting WoT members attend OPC meetings? Vice versa via invited experts?
  • IPR terms: What are the IPR terms of the OPC foundation - Are they compatible with W3C IPR terms?
  • Coordination: The OPC spec and WoT spec depend on each other. How does the coordination/alignment happen?

To ensure close synchronisation, both of the technical and legal side, a very close collaboration of the 2 SDOs is most productive.
For this purpose a single working group would be the ideal setting.
This would ensure close alignment of the spec(s) and publication schedule.

See also #1020; this is specifically focused just on defining the goals and the technical requirements to meet those goals, not the legal arrangements, or who does what.
