Current behavior:
The current user selector (after the v7 upgrade) uses just the username.

Expected correct behavior:
I think a user selector which offers (Name, email, username) is really helpful. Oftentimes you don't know someone's short username or possibly even their email address. Other times folks have two accounts so it's easiest to search by a real name then verify the right selection.

I’d expect the search to be done primarily by display name or nickname since those are what humans use, with usernames included for disambiguation since those are enforced to be unique.

I wouldn’t expect email to be included at all, but if it is it needs to respect the “Do you want your email address to appear publicly” setting.
