why the extension always auto update to pre-release version

I have installed python extension in local which version is v2022.2.1924087327 , because I need to debug with python2.
Then I install the extension into my remote dev machine, the extension version changed to pre-release version !

I have turn off auo update switch ,but it not work .

Why the remote installed version is different with local version? And when I install another version by using click extension setting button, once I reload window , the extension version will change to pre-release version !

This problem has stop my work again and again, please someone help to this

There is button called "Switch to Release Version" that you can click to switch to the stable release of the extension.

And the versions are different because when you use the Remote extensions in VS Code you're actually running a VS Code server on the remote machine, complete with its own set of extensions. So what you install locally does not automatically carry over to the remote machine.

I noticed this button and I tried it, but it also not working. And not only switch release version but also I need rollback to earlier version. By the way I forbided auto update extension.
In my local environment I installed extension and rollback to v2022.2.1924087327 , then install to remote machine. The version is right if I don't reload or reboot.
I find the extension intstall path and remove the higher version than v2022.2.1924087327 (which version still can debug with python2),but after I reload window ,the version updated to newest pre-release version too.
And I also find that uninstall the extension which now is pre-release version and reload , the extension version will be the earlier version which I need .

I think there is somewhere saved my install extensions and version mapping,but in setting I can't find it .

Supplement , I also tried:

1. forbid auto check update
2. kill all my vscode process in my remote machine
3. reinstall the extension from locall to remote by button "install to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx(ip)"

still not work !!!!
What only I can do is delete the vscode local and remote entirely, and reinstall it, almost go madly

At this point I think you may need to open an issue at https://github.com/microsoft/vscode as that's where the update mechanism is controlled.

I took the final operation , delete all the vsocode config file in the follow direction :
~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.VSCode.helper.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.VSCode.plist
~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.VSCode.ShipIt/
~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.VSCode
~/Library/Application\ Support/Code/
~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State/com.microsoft.VSCode.savedState/
~/.vscode/

and reinstall it and reinstall the extension.
This solved the problem, but this way cost too much time to recovery personal settings.

I would turn on Settings Sync to keep your personal settings backed up and available everywhere you develop.
