I built it on Arch Linux according to the debian instructions. I then tried to select a .img file, but the GUI said the file is invalid and gave this error in the terminal:

I also meet the same issue, after use chmod 777 to change the x86-64 folder permission, the issue can be fixed.
for example, sudo chmod 777 /home/caleb/s/sunxi-livesuite/x86-64
