Spatialite support

I can see in your code you include an example of how to load the Spatialite extension.

Is this extension included in any tests? It does not appear to me in the documentation.

If not would you appreciate a PR to add docs on spatialite use? I'm very interested in using it and would be happy to contribute back my findings if it hasn't had much work previously.
