There is an example of alternate plot UI in thetamath.
The plot’s scroll/zooming looks more consistent, and the grid lines are redistributed to fit selected scale:

With gl-plot2d we have the following situation on a big scale:

I guess that should be concern of gl-vis/gl-axes2d
