According to Antoine, a new emblem should be developed together with renaming the addon. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about it.

I suppose this new icon should be distinguishable from previous work (whether by patterns or colors). However, the reference to the bird being overused, the speech bubble seems particularly suitable.

I would be interested in how this question will be considered.

+1 for speech bubble :)

I'm probably going to make a first try using octicons/svg/comment-discussion.svg as pattern (two speech bubbles seem to be more appropriate for depicting the dialog concept). For the color palette, I suppose that the official Firefox one would be a relevant reminder.

Concerning submissions, I wonder what would be the best process:

  1. proposals directly posted inside this thread using export files (such as .png)
  2. dedicated repository whose final result (.png and .ico) could be merged with main project

As the naming process (#14) is supposed to be closed now, I presume that it'd be time to relaunch the idea of a new branding. I'm almost ready to submit some proposals, but I would want to know which method you prefer for doing it.

Here's another idea from above :

And also, we should totally do it in SVG. :)

Well it's an SVG... I'll provide the source later.

Interesting both ideas (by the way, the idea of an orange dominant seems to be okay).

I wonder if a such detailed emblem (in the center of both your proposals) wouldn't risk to be "crushed" once reduced to the 16px size in the main window of the browser. Maybe using just the "head" (as the manner of the GitHub mark for example)?

In any case, it seems quite clear that the era of time tends to the flat design... 😉

PS: By the way, what is the logo used for the team? Something temporary? A future proposal? Another image dedicated to another use?

16, 32 and 64.

A minor problem with this kind of images could be that they look a bit like the WhatsApp emblem, no? Furthermore, where did you find this fox shape?

@gizmecano it's an inspiration from https://www.behance.net/gallery/24044913/Fox-Logo-Animal

The temporary logo is made of echofon logo + x of Firefox ;)

Another suggestion following the first proposals by using the orange dominant, but with a original fox side face (to avoid any copyright issue) and a speech bubble inspired by the former emblem.

Nice, but the shape is a bit misleading, it could be a dog or a wolf ;)

This isn't entirely false.
I will think about how to make a silhouette a little more explicit.

@gizmecano maybe use the shape of the tail instead of the head ?

@ozh Interesting idea. I wonder which will be the most immediately recognizable: a bushy tail or pointed ears. 🙊

@gizmecano I'm no artist, I simply googled images with "fox", "fox ears" and "fox tail", and the no brainer "omg it's a fox" bit of this animal is clearly the tail :)

I liked the new logos posted here but the color... don't seem it fits. Perhaps keep the current blue, because twitter is blue and it makes sense :)

PS: I vote for tail too! (other 2 examples where tail is the main feature: firefox logo, pokemons vulpix and ninetails)
PS2: i came by this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echo_Fox . Is, the existing of this mark, an issue for the name of the addon?

It's true that the prevailing color using by Twitter is blue, but as orange variations can allude to the concepts of the fire or the fox (and therefore of Firefox), this color seems to fit more with the name. However, as this two colors are included in the color styleguide, the discussion can go on.

Regarding the other mark that you quoted, I do not know if it could be actually an issue: I notably noticed that the brand name is using separately two nouns and not a composed wording. As, at this time, the naming is still echofon-firefox-unofficial (and the word echofox is only used for the team), I suppose that we may change this if there is any problem.
