Generally I like setting the terminal to be in the project directory, but sometimes I open files from another location and would need a terminal in that folder. But currently thats not possible without changing it globally to file or folder.
So I would propose either to have it as a default of the project setting, that when opening a terminal from a non project file to open the terminal in that files folder or have an additional setting like project > folder or have a command like termination:new-at-folder.

You could try https://github.com/bus-stop/x-terminal, this supports project but not file or folder and also wont map the terminal to file or folder either.
