Removing glyphs (squares/rectangles) where character is not available #586

Description

I'm working with many languages and fonts - understandably, some fonts do not support all characters (but do support some non-ascii). In these instances a rectangular glyph appears in its place.

I don't care about the fact that the words don't appear but don't want the glyphs to appear in their place.
Is there any way that I can do this in either the package or in python?

Hi!
We can probably do that, though I don't have time to work on it. Feel free to give it a go. This might potentially fix the issue as well: #494
