Script Extender update failed, text not showing in BG3 start menu

my script extender won't update to V20, cause it says V20 doesn't support game versions before 4.57. the script extender version text also does not appear in my game menu, indicative that it doesn't exist even when downloaded. my game version is v4.1.1.5849914. i had to do a fresh install of bg3 for patch 7, and i've had issues ever since.

Indications

game crashes when i try to load saves from patch 6, with all mods disabled. create new game, loads fine. haven't redownloaded any mods yet.

Steps to Reproduce

1. download bg3mm
2. check bg3mm is up to date
3. download and extract script extender from tools tab
4. go to settings, confirm file paths
5. go to updater, ensure its on current release
6. open bg3.exe, script extender update failed no console appearing
7. no script extender text appearing in menu, old saves don't load
8. old saves crash the game

Expected Behavior

script extender should update, and work with downloaded mods

Actual Behavior

game crashes, script extender update fails and no text appears in startup menu

I have this issue as well when automatically acquiring BG3SE from BGRMM.

I manually installed BG3SE instead from "https://bg3se-updates.norbyte.dev/Channels/Release/Packages/v20.0.0.0-1a7ea8f71330ca5820dc36f04ddfdaa62220ecead7c1c50bfcd8188970ebfe3d.package"

Transfer BG3Scriptextender.dll and libprotobuf-lite.dll to Baldurs Gate 3/bin.
Rename BG3Scriptextender.dll to DWrite.dll

Hopefully the auto update gets fixed since afaik manually installing won't update BG3SE automatically anymore? not sure

thank you so much for your help! i ended up uninstalling BG3 and anything related to it, and am reinstalling currently. i’ll download BG3SE from this link provided and let you know how it goes thank you!!!
