Explanation of HTTP Headers, specifically "User-Agent" referenced in episode 13 #314
Comments
Is it worth adding an instructor note to this exercise for novices like myself to suggest recalling the Tidy Data principles recently taught? Perhaps suggest a pause to consider when instructive (manual) paragraphs may seem contradictory (as this page is). Maybe the word "header" is metacognitive: OpenRefine will have it's own fields with headings or headers. AND the data we are editing in OpenRefine has headers or headings (though the Tidy Data lesson uses Field Names and Headers interchangeably). As a novice, this requires a significant pause for me. |
How could the content be improved?
Episode 13 Looking up data talks about HTTP Headers and the "User-Agent" header without explaining what these are. Especially given the use of "header" here which could also be used to refer to other concepts (specifically a "column header" to mean the name at the top of the column / field name in the table) this could be confusing for both instructors and learners if they aren't already familiar with what these are.
