Instead of downloading image from cdn.discordapp.com we can actually download it from media.discordapp.net and use couple arguments:

  • format=webp - this significantly reduces the size if original image is high quality png. but it messes up gif animations.
  • width=X&height=X - this also can help with reducing the size.

Would be nice to have an option to use webp just for image formats. This should reduce the size of result transcript a lot.
