At least on Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 (Android 4.1), the quick controls on the stock browser show up when touching the edge of the screen. No swipe is needed. Thus pushing buttons on the edge of the screen becomes impossible when quick controls are enabled.
I consider this a bug in the Android stock browser but perhaps we should consider it when designing interfaces. We can for example choose to not care about the problem.
