I'm using buildings/upgrades ordering by PP. So, in my case, actual building/upgrade coloring is not as informative as it could be. Coloring by percentage would be better. It can show if the next building is still a great option or not (especially when the first one is very expensive.
Coloring by percentage could look like it:
Blue: better than 40% and more
Cyan: better than 20% and more
Green: best building and to 20% better
Yellow: to 20% worse
Orange: to 40% worse
Red: to 80% worse
Purpule: to 160% worse
We can consider some adjustments for the percentage. Or maybe make it configurable (at least the base 20%).
