IDE: opening non existing project prints error but some variables and displayed text are changed

steps to reproduce:

in the OnePole library, the example GUI/mouse-track is missing. But after you get an error message about it, it seems like the IDE has changed the active project directory to the (nonexistent) example so editing the project you were working on no longer works right.
